Cora arrived in the bustling, elven city of Levanthane before noon. She’d heard rumors of some trouble in a small town just North of the big city, called Corota. Cora was by no means a hero, nor was she a good combatant or talented with magic… but that didn’t mean she wasn’t perfectly willing to do everything in her power to help out a small town in need! Cora got some directions from a friendly storekeeper and sat cross legged upon her broomstick. The broomstick hovered lowly for a bit, almost being overwhelmed by the combined weight of Cora herself and everything she’d packed in the black duffle bag that’d been looped over the handle. Then, finished hesitating, the broom raised chest-level with the kind elven shopkeeper and took off quickly. The broom darted between people and soon broke free of the town itself, bursting into the wide open plains of the Forest Realm itself.
And what a wonderful realm it was. Beautiful autumn colors were everywhere; reds, light greens, browns, yellows… in the trees and on the ground beneath the woods. Cora’s broom, as if sensing it’s rider’s fascination, took her through a path littered with fallen leaves, where the canopy was thick and raining red, yellows and greens upon her. Then, just as quickly, the scenery changed once more to summery hues, with healthy grasses sprouting and brilliant greens overwhelming the site. Cora thought she spied a colony of water nymphs playing in a river, but the scene vanished quickly so she couldn’t be sure. Cora’s broom moved quickly, so the ride wasn’t long; by noon at the latest, Cora burst from the trees and spotted a village nearby. Her own instincts told her this was what she was looking for; this was Corota.
”Wow,” Cora said, grabbing hold of her broom’s handle and swinging herself up, so she was standing tall on the broom. She pushed back her ridiculously floppy witch’s hat and listened to the singing of the bells as the village came into view. Nothing looked wrong with the town from this angle, but Cora could never be sure. ”We made it,” Cora said, under her breath, speaking to herself or perhaps even her omnipresent companion, the broom. ”This is Corota…”

LAILIE Not very far behind Cora, a little faerie flittered through the air, just as fascinated with the scenary as the witch in front of her. Lailie was amazed at how pretty the Forest Realm. The realm she had spent her entire life in was nice, but this. This was just.... breathtaking. Her curious eyes sparkled with joy and interest as she soared through the air, her light violet hair billowing behind her.
Lailie had been quick to take the first quest she set her eyes on. It seemed easy enough. Find a lost elven child? Piece of cake! Lailie could do it in her sleep. So, brimming with confidence, Lailie had entered the Forest Realm and headed straight for Corota, hoping she would meet up with the other person who was doing the quest. Cora Dare was her name. She was a witch or something. Lailie didn't know much about witches, but seeing as she was doing this quest, hopefully she would be decent.
Lailie put on a burst of speed as the little village appeared on the horizon, and easily caught up to Cora. "We made it, this is Corota..." "Yeah, we did." she answered, not caring that the statement hadn't been aimed towards her. She flew ahead and lighted down in the edge of the village, taking in the scene in front of her. It was a tiny village, but cozy and cute. Lailie liked it much more than the bustling, noisy, crowded cities she had seen on the way over. She tugged on the strap of her dress, which was made of a light blue nature fabric she had gotten back in the faerie realm. The sleeve kept slipping, but it was a pretty dress. A white, cracked pattern stretched across it, and the bottom of it was choppily cut so it reached the middle of her thighs. Lailie put her hands on her hips and turned, her long hair, which was held up in her normal pigtails, whipping around, and she addressed Cora. "So, you're Cora right? The witch who is also on the quest for the little lost elven child?" Classic Lailie, casual and abrupt towards a stranger, as usual. While she awaited Cora's answer, she searched for the mother of the lost child through her peripheral vision.[/blockquote] WC: 408. Tags: Cora, Open Notes: :3

Cora was still gazing unblinkingly at the village, excited to move into her first real quest, but afraid of screwing it up... when something behind her actually answered the statement. "Aah!" Cora yelped, loosing balance and falling off the broom, landing comically on her back. Without Cora's magic to keep it running, the broom fell with a small clatter to the ground. And Cora, poor, confused little Cora, leapt to her feet and grabbed the handle of her broom, aiming the bristles at the creature that'd scared her... which happened to be a faerie.
Cora pulled the broom back immediately, hoping the faerie hadn't seen and blushing lightly. Clearing her throat, she grabbed her bag from the ground and tossed it over her shoulder, then joined the faerie, standing at her side. Cora was a bit relieved to find someone else had the same idea as her... though she was embarrassed that she hadn't had the insight to ask more about the quest; small things like... oh, what she was looking for and who would be joining her. At least the faerie had provided her with the task at hand; there was a lost child. Cora was relieved; as long as she didn't turn the child into a frog, the mission should run smoothly.
"I am," Cora replied, adjusting her hat which, in turn, made the bells tinkle musically. She fidgetted a bit; she felt a bit... gaudy next to the faerie who was dressed in light colors. She was dressed entirely in eye-catchingly bright yellows and blacks, which made the yellows even more eye-catching. The high stockings, short skirt and flowy white blouse weren't helping either... and, of course, her large, floppy witch's hat made her stick out like a sore thumb... not that she wasn't used to it. However, in her home realm she usually blended in rather nicely...
"I-I'm sorry," Cora said, still blushing, "I... uh... never caught your name."

Lailie was oblivious to Cora's reaction when she said her first words to her. Sure, she faintly heard the shriek, but her mind was already focused on different things. Like if anyone else would be joining them. Or where they were supposed to meet the mother of the elf. Lailie brushed her side bangs it of her eyes carelessly, breathing a sigh before turning to Cora, who had just proved her assumption correct by saying I am. Cora looked slightly flushed, and she..."You have a leaf in your hair." Lailie pointed out.
She seemed like a good companion. If she was good at magic, she would be useful. If she wasn't...well, even if she wasn't, she would still be good to work with. And besides, finding a lost elf didn't require very much magic or fighting, as far as she knew. Hopefully it wouldn't require a lot of hiding and sneaking around. This witch could be spotted from a mile away, what with bright colors and bells. Could she use glamour on non fairies? Lailie would try, if they needed to sneak around at any point during the quest. Hopefully they wouldn't.
Lailie flittered her wings for a fraction of a second, continuing her search for the elf mother. No one stood out. She was about to go up and ask one of the elves who was carrying a lumpy bag when she faintly heard the voice that belonged to Cora. She returned her light violet gaze on the witch and smiled. Her smile always tended to be small(unless she was really happy) and slightly crooked, but pretty and deceivingly sweet looking, thanks to her lips and perfect teeth. "Oh, right! Introductions. Hi, My nickname is Lailie," The real-name rule flashed in her mind, "I'm your partner for this quest." She frowned, "Why are you stuttering and blushing?"Lailie plunged her hand down deep into her bag, which was made of a brown, leather-like nature fabric, and felt around. Her fingers brushed against something rough, and she snatched it and unearthed it from the contents of her bag. "Hmmm." she muttered, her voice thoughtful as she scanned the parchment, "It doesn't say how we are supposed to find the mother, and she's the first person to find so we can ask her where she last saw her child, what his name is, and general things like that. We can also ask who he was with last, and question them too." A plan was already unfolding in her mind. She was getting right down to business.
